Police officers have been deployed around Paris to secure special road lanes for Olympic athletes, delegations and other participants, and facilitate smooth transportation during the Games.

The Olympic lanes were activated on Monday (July 15), and police have already issued 400 fines over the last two days.

Paris 2024 road signs have been painted on pavements, signaling 185 km of special lanes, reserved for Olympic teams, media, taxis, and security and emergency vehicles.

Non-authorized vehicles will be fined, with video surveillance reinforcing police patrols around Paris.

Some zones have been designated car-free so that spectators can arrive at some venues by foot.

A total of 35,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed for the Games which run from July 26 to August 11.
