It weakened upon reaching Fujian Province, where over 290,000 were relocated, and Wenzhou issued a highest-level rainstorm warning. The typhoon, which earlier caused havoc in Taiwan and the Philippines, resulted in five deaths in Taiwan and over 22 in the Philippines, along with a sunken oil tanker off Manila.
